PERSONAL STATEMENTMembers of the ISST Community, I am pleased to accept the nomination for the position of Training Coordinator. Like many, I am passionate about Schema Therapy and welcome the opportunity to be a part of the board in maintaining the integrity of the model and supporting both creative and research developments. I have a strong commitment to ISST members and to training in Schema Therapy and welcome the opportunity to continue to fine tune elements of the training process. I will continue to liaise with the Training Certification Advisory Board and relevant training directors in further developing training programs internationally. In addition, I will work closely with the Quality Assurance Committee to evaluate current training and supervision requirements to ensure there are adequate resources to support the continued development of current trainers and supervisors. This will be achieved by:
My qualifications for the position of T&C Coordinator In addition to my willingness to devote the time involved for the duties of this position, I believe that I am qualified for the position. Training has been a focus of my professional career over the last 15 years. As a member of an executive board for a psychiatric hospital and Allied health manager, I have been involved in training nurses, psychiatrists, general practitioners, and allied health staff in not only Schema Therapy but relevant policies and procedures from both a clinical and business perspective. I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate and am an approved Clinical Supervisor by the Australian regulatory agency. I am the director of an ISST approved training program in both Individual and Group Schema Therapy, am the Chair of the Group Schema Therapy Certification committee and co-certification reviewer for Australia. I have been invited to run training for the Australian Psychological Society in Schema Therapy and have presented at ISST conferences over the years. I am also a research consultant in Schema Therapy for several universities. I am particularly interested in self-practice/self-reflection as an important part of ST training and I am a co-investigator on the study to evaluate the use of the Farrell & Shaw self-therapy/practice protocol on practitioner outcomes. I am very committed to Schema Therapy society and the ISST as a whole and would be thankful in your support as being a member of the Executive Board in representing your needs with regards to the issues listed.
