Christof Loose. PhD., is a Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist for Children and Adolescents (CBT), Schema Therapist for Children & Adolescents, Adults, Advanced Certification, Trainer, Supervisor (ISST e.V.)

  • Christof works in his own Private Practice, is affiliated with the Heinrich-Heine-University, Department Clinical Psychology, Germany 2012-2017.
  • Research activity in ST-CA (e.g. Schema-Questionnaire for Children, DISC), Chair of the subcommittee Working Group in ST-CA 2013-2017, and again since 2023
  • Editor/author of ST-CA books and Video-Learning (DVD), conducts workshops and seminars in ST-CA, worldwide. More info about ST-CA work and approaches: www.schematherapy-for-children.de .
  • As an ISST Certified Advanced level Schema Therapist and Trainer/Supervisor in Individual and Child-Adolescent Schema Therapy Christof was an essential part in the development and distribution of STCA not only in Germany, but all around the Globe. He continuously made significant contributions to the development of ISST and Schema Therapy not only for the treatment of adult patients, but also -and so much needed!- for the younger patients. This is his passion, and if you visit his trainings, you instantly can feel this in the way he presents working with CA. He is „resident“-trainer and STCA training director at the IST-K, Cologne, but furthermore the members recognize Christof for his tireless work to establish STCA in the ISST community at every conference and so many different countries! His effort into training activities in STCA cant be missed by active ISST members, his  supervision activities are well known and ranked by many STCA therapists, as well as his writing and research on STCA. Christof serves currently as chair of the Child-Adolescent Certification committee for the second time and is a member of the ISST Training and Certification Advisory Board.
  • Also Christof has helped a number of clinics to train their staff and build-up STCA Treatment programs for in-patient-treatments.
  • To give you a better picture of how Christof gives his authentic self into STCA refer to his own words when introducing himself: „Hello everyone: Sometimes people ask me: ‚Are you a doctor for crazy people?‘ I reply ‚No‘, ‘ I’m a doctor for normal people … but often people who come to me find themselves in crazy situations and circumstances‘. Most clients understand and agree that people don’t usually set out to feel bad or act in harmful or hurtful ways. Rather, problematic behavior is often an emergency solution or response, which seems better than not reacting at all. I see myself (therapeutically) as a lawyer who advocates for all my clients, particularly for their needs; I advocate for both my child clients and their parents.“
  • Christof is the author of numerous books, book chapters, research articles evaluating STCA, which have been translated into many languages (pls see list below). His probably most important contribution to ST-CA is this book:  Loose, C. Graaf, P. Zarbock, G., & Holt, R.A.(Editors)(2020). Schema Therapy with Children and Adolescents: A Practitioner's Guide. UK: Pavilion Publishing and Media Ltd.
